Graduates' Profile
Based on the results of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) conducted with stakeholders, alumni, users, and tracer study implementation, the Graduate Profile of the Master of Management Program at Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas is as follows:
a. Middle Manager in the Banking Sector
A middle manager refers to a mid-level leader (supervisor) within a banking organization or other financial institutions who performs planning, organizing, directing, and controlling functions, or carries out part of these activities within the division/unit under their supervision.
b. Middle Manager in the Finance Sector
A middle manager refers to a mid-level leader (supervisor) within a business organization who performs financial functions, including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, or carries out part of these activities within the division/unit under their supervision based on financial principles.
c. Middle Manager in the Marketing Sector
Graduates of the Master of Management Program work in the service sector as marketers (supervisors and managers) and entrepreneurs with managerial competencies in marketing and entrepreneurship through the utilization of information and communication technology. Entrepreneurs are individuals who seek opportunities for success by utilizing available resources through business activities for themselves or others.
d. Middle Manager in the Human Resource Sector
Graduates of the Master of Management Program are also highly needed in the field of human resource management. The most prominent core competencies in HR today include the ability to manage Benefits and Compensation, as well as Performance & Talent Management. Human resources are no longer viewed merely as labor, but as human capital that contributes value to the company.
Meanwhile, based on tracer study data conducted by the Perbanas Career Center (PCC), the majority of Master of Management alumni work in the banking sector, amounting to 12 (fifteen) alumni (38%). The second largest proportion of alumni work in non-bank service and financial companies at 28%. This indicates that most graduates utilize the knowledge they acquired to develop their careers. The third largest graduate profile is entrepreneurship or business at 22%, followed by non-bank financial institutions at 6%. Other graduates work in manufacturing companies and educational service institutions.
Graduate Employment Relevance
Graduate tracer studies are conducted by the Perbanas Career Center. The tracer study is carried out using instruments that have been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the tracer study indicate that the competitiveness of graduates is very good. This is shown by the fact that no graduates work outside the field of management, along with an increasing trend in job-field relevance from TS-4, TS-3, to TS-2, particularly from the Moderate relevance category to the High relevance category. In TS-2, 97% of alumni worked in positions highly relevant to their field of study, while only 3% worked in positions with low relevance to their field. These findings indicate that the follow-up efforts to improve the percentage of job-field relevance have been highly successful. This improvement is believed to be influenced by two factors. First, inviting practitioners to deliver guest lectures so that prospective graduates’ knowledge and skills remain aligned with industry needs, while also creating connections between students as prospective employees and practitioners as potential employers. Second, conducting company visits so that prospective graduates can identify their career choices early and gradually improve their competencies.
There are various types and positions of employment among graduates. Six graduates are entrepreneurs who own their own businesses. In addition to being business owners, graduates also hold positions such as Junior Relationship Manager, Head of Operations Surabaya Sub-Branch, Human Resource Consultant, Regional Account Manager, Supervisor, Corporate Business Executive, Administration Business Support, Consultant, Branch Manager, Credit Analyst, Lecturer, Relationship Funding Manager, Marketing Staff, Correspondence Staff, Head of Academic Administration Bureau & Lecturer, Marketing Supervisor, Designer, and General Administrative Staff. The diversity of these job types and positions demonstrates that Master of Management graduates are capable of working in various positions and are highly adaptable to current industry demands.
One of the efforts to improve the quality of education is by emphasizing the quality and contribution of graduates in the workplace. Graduate quality reflects the quality of the learning process implemented by a higher education institution. The postgraduate study program must position students as the primary stakeholders as well as active contributors in the value-added process of academic activities in order to realize the vision, implement the mission, and achieve objectives through strategies developed by the study program. The postgraduate study program must actively participate in the recruitment and selection system for prospective students to ensure high-quality student input and graduates. The postgraduate study program must also provide access to student services and support the development of students’ interests and talents. Furthermore, the study program should manage alumni both as products of the institution and as partners in the continuous improvement of the study program. In addition, the postgraduate study program must actively participate in empowering and engaging alumni, as well as enhancing the role of alumni in improving the quality of academic learning.
